| GOP Website | The Republican Party website (County or State) will provide contact information to get involved (volunteer). Contact your County GOP and ask to attend a meeting. Committee membership begins here! |
| BOE FOIL Request | You can request information from the County or State. Typically, their website will provide an online form or email address. You can request political party bylaws, committee member lists, walk lists, precinct/district maps. |
| Petition Cycle | Most states use the Primary Nomination Method and determine committee members during the Petition Cycle. This is the timeframe to become a committee member as determined by the county or state party (GOP) in their bylaws. ie. the month of March in odd number years. |
| County Committee Member List | Theoretically, there are 2 members to represent every precinct within every county, within every party throughout the country. | Precinct Walk List | A list of registered voters and their address within a precinct/election district is used to identify voter signators needed for a designating petition. It is obtained from the County BOE. A committee member candidate (or representative) uses this list to collect signatures in support of their candidacy. |
| Designating Petition Form | Designating Petitions are forms used to become a committee member. Obtain signatures from Republican registered voters in a specific precinct/election district in support of the committee member candidate. Petitions are submitted to the County BOE during an election cycle and verified. Candidates can typically become committee members if uncontested and a vacancy exists -or- participate in a primary election. Check bylaws for details. |
| #Voters/Signatures Needed | The number of signatures needed on a Designating Petition to be eligible for Precinct Committee membership is typically 5% of the number of active voters within your precinct/political party. It is determined by the County BOE and is a relatively small number ranging from approx. 5-30. Lookup your NYS County Election District Enrollment if your county info is not on this website. |
